Here are some guidelines on what golf cart battery charger voltage readings indicate:
- During bulk/fast charging:
48V battery pack - 58-62 volts
36V battery pack - 44-46 volts
24V battery pack - 28-30 volts
12V battery - 14-15 volts
Higher than this indicates possible overcharging.
- During absorption/top off charging:
48V pack - 54-58 volts
36V pack - 41-44 volts
24V pack - 27-28 volts
12V battery - 13-14 volts
- Float/trickle charging:
48V pack - 48-52 volts
36V pack - 36-38 volts
24V pack - 24-25 volts
12V battery - 12-13 volts
- Fully charged resting voltage after charging completes:
48V pack - 48-50 volts
36V pack - 36-38 volts
24V pack - 24-25 volts
12V battery - 12-13 volts
Readings outside these ranges could indicate a charging system malfunction, unbalanced cells, or bad batteries. Check charger settings and battery condition if voltage seems abnormal.
